Now it’s possible to work with anyone who has access to high speed internet, coupled with super-fast computers and ever-easier-to-use applications. We’ve seen a huge increase in numbers of websites that allow you to connect to a globally-spread freelance workforce that was not available even 5 years ago.
More common it may be but it certainly has its drawbacks. Numerous Australian based businesses use a myriad of global businesses and individuals to provide production offerings, many brand related businesses included. You may or may not know it but somewhere along the supply chain, work maybe fed abroad in order to save cost whilst charges to you remain the same. Often lead times are longer, quality of control is questionable and certainly the work won’t be overseen from a true creative perspective and diligently checked for brand consistency.
Whilst cost saving is something we take seriously and certainly are always looking to pass on coast savings to you, our clients, we at AWD use Australian based creative and production individuals only, if for any reason we need to outsource. That way Australian’s benefit, not overseas faceless businesses who’s local economy allows them to give reduced costs where hourly rates sit way below our own minimum wage.
